HOME BASE
SPOLETO, ITALY
Piazza della liberta' as the sun goes down.
Tre Fontane, a nice local restaurant I quite like.
One always enjoys reconnecting with old friends. This one is a good friend I met last year! He's just as friendly as ever. I call him (or is it her), "Kitty."

First place to go in Spoleto is "Il Mio Vinaio," owned by Sandra Panetti and family. By the middle of the first week, she had already kicked her hospitality up a notch! We want for nothing when visiting her place!

A Sunday afternoon walk through the streets of Spoleto.

San Gregorio

The Cemetary and Basilica di San Salvatore

Back in the Street

SPELLO
This little town is just down the road from Spoleto. It has all the charm of Assisi and none of the tourists...it may be my new favorite place.
Porta Consolare.
Everyone takes such pride in their windows and stairs. It's almost as if there is an unspoken contest. Amazing.

The Church of Saint Andrew

Santa Maria Maggiore.
Porta Venere.

CASTEL RITALDI
This is the hometown of the mother of our Spoleto Study Abroad co-director, Lorenzo Muti. A wonderfully authentic place, not one tourist...only Italians.

FIRENZE, Italy

Spoleto, one of Italy's "hill towns," is a very special place in so many ways. I will miss it. Here is the magnificent Duomo...just one of several extraordinary places.

ASSISI, Italy
This remains one of my very favorite places, even if it is a bit "euro Disney" these days after so much painstaking renovation.
